IIM CAP 2025: Last Date Extended to January 23; Check Cut Offs, How to Apply

The IIM CAP 2025 Portal is live as of January 14, 2025. The cut-off percentile for PI/WAT have been announced. IIM CAP 2025 Cut Off is 95 Percentile. Last year, IIM CAP 2024 Cut Off was 94% only. IIM CAP 2025 Last Date has been extended to January 23, 2025. Earlier, the last date for IIM CAP was January 21. Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, IIM CAP Convenor has confirmed this extension to MBAUniverse.com. Responding to our query, Dr Ranjan said, “Yes, the last date is extended till 23 June 5:00 pm.” All candidates who meet the IIM CAP Cut Off Criteria must fill CAP Form on IIM CAP 2025 Official Website immediately.

Slot selection for PI/WAT is tentatively scheduled from January 27 to 30, 2025. The PI/WAT process will take place from February 17 to March 15, 2025. Check important IIM CAP dates below.

Following is the sectional and overall percentile cut-off for appearing in PI and WAT of Common Admission Process 2025 of 8 participating IIMs (IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Tiruchirappalli and IIM Udaipur).

Candidates with percentile equal to or more than the above-mentioned IIM CAP Cutoff 2025 can appear in PI and WAT by applying on the https://cap2025.iimbg.ac.in 

IIM CAP 2025 Process is open for all candidates who took CAT 2025 and scores above the IIM 2025 Cut Off, which is 95%. IIM CAP 2025 Fees: There is no separate fees for IIM CAP 2025 registration.

1. Selection/opting for MBA and specialized MBA programs
Selection/Opting of MBA programs: Candidates must select the MBA programs of eight IIMs in the CAP application form. Accordingly, their candidature will be considered by the respective IIMs. If the candidate does not select the MBA of a particular IIM in the CAP application form, their candidature will not be considered by the respective IIMs.

Selection/Opting of specialized MBA programs: Additionally, some IIMs offer specialized MBA programs in addition to the core MBA programs. Candidates interested in any such programs must select the respective programs in the CAP application form. The candidates are requested to check the eligibility criteria and other required details applicable to the program on their website.

The above-mentioned selection of MBA and specialized MBA programs will overwrite the selection made during the CAT 2024 application process.

The admission policy, merit list finalization, and subsequent admission offers are independent at all eight IIMs. Based on the candidate’s position in the merit rank and other admission criteria, the provisional admission offer will be shared by respective IIMs.

2. Selection of preferred city for Offline PI/WAT and date-slot booking
In the CAP application, candidates must opt for four different cities (in order of preference) to appear in the PI/WAT process.

Date-Slot booking: The date-slot portal will open after the closure of the CAP application as per the timeline. Candidates will be able to select the date and slot for the allotted city in the following manner: If there are vacant seats for the first preferred city, they will get the option of selecting a date slot for that only. If there is no vacant seat for the first preferred city, they will get such options for the second preferred city, and so on. If there are no vacant seats for the third and the fourth preferred city, then all such cities would be available on the portal where there are vacant seats. They will select any one of these cities. Further, the selection window for date slots would be available.

The above-mentioned Date-Slot Booking will be available on a First Come, First Serve basis. However, if any candidate does not book a date slot during the stipulated time, the system may allow the date slot automatically (random allocation of date slot).

3. Document to be upload
Please note that all documents must be uploaded (Size - Maximum 1.5 MB and File formats - .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf), and if there are multiple documents to upload in a particular field, candidates should make a single file including all of those documents to upload in the portal. 

Instructions regarding data to be filled and documents to be uploaded in the CAP Application:

• Photograph and Signature (Upload the same photograph and signature as uploaded in the CAT Application Form)
• Photo Identity Card Document (only govt ID proof such as Aadhar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, and Passport)
• CAT 2024 scorecard (upload the pdf that you downloaded from the CAT website)
• 10th and 12th/Diploma (upload the mark sheet and certificate)
• Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree
• Work Experience (If any)
• Category/PwD Certificate, if applicable

Please ensure that the correct data is provided in the CAP 2025 application form, as no further change request will be entertained after submitting the CAP 2025 application form.

To streamline admissions for new and second-generation IIMs established after year 2010, the IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) was introduced. This process streamlines the selection for participating IIMs through a centralized system, benefiting both aspirants and institutions.

The IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) is a common selection process conducted for candidates shortlisted by participating IIMs based on their CAT scores. Instead of appearing for separate rounds of interviews for each IIM, selected candidates undergo a centralized Personal Interview (PI) round. Final admission offer to the candidates is released by individual participating IIM based on the performance in CAP round, CAT score, Academic Profile, diversity, work experience and their other selection parameters.

Here are the key highlights of IIM CAP process 2025: 

8 IIMs Participating: IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur are IIM CAP Colleges 2025.

IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur Exit CAP: IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur have decided to exit from CAP process.

IIM Bodhgaya CAP 2025 Coordinator: IIM Bodhgaya (IIM BG) is coordinating CAP 2025 process. Last year, IIM Kashipur was the CAP 2024 coordinator.

Offline Process: CAP 2025 will be conducted in Offline Mode. This means that face to face interviews will be conducted for candidates. Written Ability Test (WAT) may be conducted this year. CAP Centers in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and a few other cities.

IIMs CAP 2025 Admission Process involves following steps:

Step 1: Shortlist by Individual IIMs: Each of the new IIMs will shortlist the candidates independent of each other. Candidates are shortlisted at the 1st stage around 10 to 12 times of the intake for MBA admission 2025 by each IIM. It may create the multiplicity of calls for the same candidate if he/she meets the shortlisting criteria of many IIMs.

Step 2: Each IIM sends shortlist to CAP 2025 Coordinator IIM: Each CAP participating IIM forwards its list of shortlisted candidates to the CAP 2025 coordinating IIM.

Step 3: CAP Conducting IIM to create Final List of Shortlisted Candidates for CAP 2025 Calls: CAP coordinating IIM will combine the list of all participating IIMs and prepare a final list of candidates for CAP 2025 Calls. The IIM will then send out calls to these candidates. More than 20,000 candidates are to get New IIMs CAP 2025 Calls.

Step 4: Candidates to participate in PI Process: CAP 2025 Personal Assessment (PA) round will only have Personal Interview (PI) as Written Abilities Test (WAT) may not be conducted. Also there will be no Group Discussion. A candidate will be asked to appear in CAP through Online mode instead of at one of the 5 CAP Centers New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata.

Step 5: CAP 2025 Scores to be sent by Coordinating IIM to participating IIMs: Based on the performance of the candidates in the PI round, CAP coordinating IIM will prepare the scores for the CAP Round. This will be sent to all the participating IIMs after CAP round is over.

Step 6: All IIMs to prepare their own Final Admission List: Each participating IIM has its own admission policy. They will provide weightages to CAT scores, CAP scores, and in some cases Applicants Profile, for making final admission offers. It is very much possible that one of the new IIMs may not send you final admission offer while others offer you admission based on your CAT 2023 scores and other parameters.

Each participating IIM is free to give their own weightage to CAP process. Based on past trends, the expected weightage by participating IIM in their Final Admission is expected to be as follows:

CAP 2025 centres are expected to be in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. However, since CAP 2025 may be conducted online, candidates can attend the PI round from their home on the designated date which will be communicated by the CAP coordinating IIM to the short-listed candidates. 

In a bold move, IIM Sambalpur has exited from Common Admission Process (CAP) from MBA Admissions 2025. IIM Sambalpur will conduct its own admission process for MBA and newly launched course MBA in Business Analytics programs. Sharing the context behind this shift in IIM Sambalpur admission 2025 process, Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, said, “Since 2018, IIM Sambalpur has been a part of CAP, where it has collaborated with other IIMs... The primary objective of this collaboration was to optimally use the limited resources during the initial years of the institute…” Dr Jaiswal further added, “However, with the introduction of this new and independent admission process, IIM Sambalpur has opted to conduct its MBA admissions process independently similar to the earlier generation IIMs, allowing prospective candidates to be directly interviewed by the institute.”

Similarly, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has also announced it will no longer participate in the Common Admission Process (CAP) for its MBA admissions from 2025 onwards, opting instead for an independent selection process. Exit of IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur from IIM Common Admission Process shows the confidence that these IIMs have in pulling quality students.
